Many people choose the Force because it offers a high level of performance and is good value for money.
III. Comparison of the Groups
There are a lot of things to consider when comparing them to the kits, and to best explain it I'm going to break down the comparisons.
1. Cost
For many, cost is one of the first and most important aspects.
The Force eTap actually retails for around $2,000 (usually at suggested retail price) and the Shimano 105 retails for around $2,050.
They're not the cheapest kits out there, but you get what you pay for, and they offer a lot.
2. Installation
It's important to talk about fitment if you plan on installing the kit yourself.
When it comes to the Shimano 105, it's a bit more complicated than the SRAM Force eTap.
The 105 is semi-wireless, which means the chainstay is connected to the central battery and the shifter is connected wirelessly.
The Force is completely wireless, with its own separate battery.
The Force is much easier to install because when the 105 needs more wiring, maintenance and attention, it just needs to be tightened.
3. Appearance
Speaking of looks, they are both very nice kits.
They fit any bike and both have invisible finishes.
Compared to the 105, the Force is more squared off and the 105 is smoother and rounder. It depends on personal preference.
4. Weight
In terms of weight, there are actually very few differences.
Despite the fact that they come in many different forms, the average weight difference between these kits is about 100g.
The Shimano 105 weighs around 2990g and the SRAM Force weighs around 2820g.
That's a very small amount to worry about.
5. Combinations
Regarding combinations.
